HOW DO YOU STERILISE PIERCING EQUIPMENT AND JEWELLERY?

We use autoclave sterilisers in all Punktured stores. These use steam and pressure to kill germs.
We also use new needles for each piercing - these are medically sterilised and sealed.
Our piercers are happy to answer any questions you have about sterilisation - Just ask!

DO I NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET A PIERCING?

Walk-in's are always welcome! If it's a busy time of year i.e. school holidays, piercing promotion, it's best to give your local store a call and make a booking. We'll do our best to fit everyone in during the busy times! You will need to book for genital piercings as not all our piercers are trained for this type of piercing.

HOW MANY PIERCINGS CAN I GET DONE IN ONE SESSION?

You can have as many piercings as you want done in one session.
However, the body's ability to heal suggests more than three piercings in one session can be a slower healing process.

DO YOU USE PIERCING GUNS?

We NEVER use piercing guns and you should steer clear of any piercing salon that tells you these are ok to use.
Piercing guns cannot be sterilised properly between clients which can lead to infections.
This method also causes great damage to tissue and can leave very visible and darkened scarring.
The earring studs used in piercing guns are also not appropriate for piercings other than the earlobes.

CAN YOU NUMB THE AREA BEFORE YOU PIERCE IT?

We don't sell numbing spray, We do not apply it and do not encourage you to use it prior to getting a piercing.

HOW LONG DO I NEED TO WAIT BEFORE I CAN CHANGE MY JEWELLERY?

You should wait until your piercing has completely healed before you change your jewellery.
You may put yourself at risk of infection or rejection if you don't wait. Healing time depends on what type of piercing you get.
For average healing times, check out the details in the Aftercare section below or ask your local Punktured piercer.

WHAT IS YOUR BODY JEWELLERY MADE OF?

We have a wide range of body jewellery in different materials, for use after your piercing has healed.
For freshly done piercings, we use 316L surgical steel (available in a range of colours).
Its composition and the treatment process it endures states that it is great for new piercings in 99.97% if the population.
We also offer a higher grade of implant grade titanium G23 (Ti6AL4VELI) which is bio-medically inert (Completely safe for all).

CAN I BRING MY OWN JEWELLERY TO GET PIERCED WITH?

Unfortunately not, we will only pierce with our jewellery.

CAN YOU CHANGE MY JEWELLERY FOR ME?

Yep we can. It costs nothing when you purchase jewellery from us on the day, however there is a $5 fee any other time.

HOW MUCH DOES A PIERCING COST?

Our pricing for standard piercings is $15 for the procedure only.
We can pierce pretty much anything you want with pretty much anything we've got so there's too many options to list here!
Check out our full price and piercings list below. Best option is to give your local Punktured store a visit and they'll be able to let you know the cost.

HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY PIERCING?

For all piercings during healing avoid:

  • Moving or rotating your jewellery where possible. This will allow your piercing to heal quickly.
  • Touching your piercing as this can increase the chance of infection.
  • Over cleaning. Only clean your piercing as directed by your piercer.
  • Oral contact from others.
  • Chlorine as this can cause irritation. So avoid pools and spas.
  • Changing your jewellery until healed - you may damage the piercing or get an infection.
  • Shampoo, conditioner residue and soaps. Make sure you rinse these away while showering.
  • Tight and unwashed clothing and linen.
  • restricting the piercing in any way by the clothing that you wear.
  • Illicit drugs and alcohol consumption initially (Especially with oral piercings).

Remember to:

  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle.
  • Change bedding and towels regularly.
  • Contact your piercer if you have any questions or queries.

I'M WORRIED ABOUT MY PIERCING. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Make sure you’re following the aftercare instructions your piercer gave you.
Some redness and swelling is expected for certain piercings as your piercer would have explained.
If you think you’re experiencing too much redness or swelling or you’re just not sure, feel free to call or go into your local Punktured store and have it assessed.
Even if you’ve been pierced somewhere else, we’re happy to help.

CAN I EAT OR DRINK BEFORE AND AFTER MY PIERCING?

Eating before a piercing and ensuring your body is well fuelled is great. Maintaining your regular diet after your new piercing is always suggested too,
as the human body relies on sustenance. However in the case of oral piercings, eating can be a slightly weird sensation so care is advised.

There is no situation where we can ethically pierce a person under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
In all cases heavy consumption of these things WILL slow the healing process and promote infection.
In the case of oral piercings alcohol consumption of any type or brand will cause further complications to swelling, slow healing or a multitude of infections.
It is strongly advised against until healing is nearly complete.
